About The Hoodie Shop [2010-2015]:

The Hoodie Shop was the brainchild of Aleah Speranza and entertainment entrepreneur, Peter Shapiro (Brooklyn Bowl, Wetlands, The Capitol Theater, Relix Magazine) who first met at an LCD Soundsystem concert.  With a full concert surround sound system, in store DJ booth and 8X10' projection screen, this "retail anomaly" (NY MAG) morphed from retail space to movie theatre to venue.  Classic concert footage played on a projection screen but only when say, long time friend of the founders, Questlove, wasn't spinning from the secret DJ booth.

Named one of Daily Candy's "Best New Boutiques of 2012" and featured in NY Mags "Best of New York" issue in 2012, The Hoodie Shop quickly became the Lower East Side style destination for the laid back downtown set. As it's name describes, The Hoodie Shop specialized in clothing with hoods but the atmosphere was more fantasy hangout than retail boutique.

The Hoodie Shop hosted over 30 bands, was the CMJ '12 club house for Bonnaroo, and threw one of the top FNO '12 parties in the city (Racked NY).

The Hoodie Shop carried basics, breakout designers, vintage, leather jackets, outerwear scarves and one of a kind pieces.  Not everything in the shop was a hoodie, but everything had a hood.

The Hoodie Shop closed it's doors in 2016 after an epic and exciting run.  It was located at 181 Orchard Street. Lower East Side. New York, NY.
